This breed will be limited this year. We had an unfortunate accident in their pen during the hot summer of 2025 which caused us to lose a number of hens. We are rebuilding and will hopefully have more available in 2027. Eggs are limited to only 1/2 dozen at a time. Do not try to order 2 half dozens unless you are willing to receive them at different times.
 
The Ellison Chocolate Egger is a proprietary multi-generational mix created on our homestead for dark eggs that is also sexable at hatch. Hens look similar to the Black Copper Marans with dark feathering and gold/copper hackles but in a smaller, more streamlined frame. Their feed conversion is also much better than the Marans. They may or may not have feathering on the shanks. The Ellison Chocolate Egger lays a large, usually matte, milk chocolate egg with the occasional bird laying a highly speckled or heavy bloomed egg. We get lots of purple tinted eggs from the Ellison Chocolate Eggers. If only a 1/2 dozen is available, do NOT try to circumvent this by ordering 2 half dozens. We only list 1/2 dozen because that specific pen is small and we will not be able to get a dozen eggs in a reasonable amount of time to account for shipping and delays. We want to get the eggs out to you as soon as possible to give you the best chance of a successful hatch. If you try to order 2 half dozens for any one breed at a time when the option for a dozen is not available, you agree to accept each half dozen at separate times and pay a separate shipping fee for each half dozen. You will be sent an invoice for the additional shipping cost. You have been warned. If you do not agree to this, do not do it. We will cancel the order subject to a 20% cancellation fee as outlined in our terms.
