The hatching eggs for Red and Black Sex Links are sold together. All the silver factored and Barred Rock hens run together in the same pen under Rhode Island Red roosters. We find it sometimes difficult to distinguish between the eggs of silver hens and the Barred Rocks. However, as soon as the chicks hatch, you will be able to tell immediately which is which.
 
Red Sex Links are famous for their laying abilities. They are known by many names: Golden Comet, Red Star, Cinnamon Queen, etc. They are all essentially a cross between a gold factored rooster and a silver factored hen. Our breeding uses a heritage Rhode Island Red rooster over silver factored hens. The cross produces chicks that are easily sexed at hatch. Male chicks will be a light yellow. Females will hatch with red down. These hybrids are the best layers on the homestead. They lay large to extra large medium brown eggs almost every single day and will lay all through the winter. If you're looking for a super layer of brown eggs, this is the bird for you. 
 
Black Sex Links are a great dual purpose bird. Also known as the Black Star, hens are mostly black with red/gold feathering through the hackles. Roosters are barred with varying degrees of red leakage. Our breeding uses a heritage Rhode Island Red rooster over Plymouth Barred Rock hens. The cross produces chicks that are easily sexed at hatch. All chicks will hatch black but males will have a white dot on the top of their head while females will not. These hybrids are great layers of large brown eggs and are heavier than the Red Sex Links, making them suitiable for meat as well.

Hatching and collecting eggs depends on the weather, fertility, and when hens lay. We cannot guarantee a specific date, only a spot in line. Be prepared to receive your order at any time during the season. You will be contacted when your order is next up in line. If you cannot take your hatching eggs or chicks for any reason, you will be moved to the next hatch date. We will allow up to 3 reschedules, after which, the amount paid and the items in the order are considered forfeit. No refunds. We have a limited number of hatching eggs and chicks each year. When you reserve eggs or chicks, you are keeping others from being able to place their order.
 
There are no returns or refunds. We only issue refunds if we cannot fulfill your order by the end of the hatching season. Hatching eggs are sold in either 1/2 dozen or 1 dozen. We only ship within the state of California and only between February 1st and May 31st of the year. If you have a shipping address that is outside of California or your are requesting shipping outside of these dates, your order will be cancelled and you will be charged a 10% processing fee to refund your order. It costs us money to refund and we should not be punished because you did not take the time to read these terms.
 
If you'd like to have your hatching eggs or chicks shipped, please add the appropriate shipping at checkout. Minimum of 6 chicks and maximum of 12 chicks for shipping. Maximum of 2 dozen hatching eggs per order. If you need to order more than this, please place multiple orders. Otherwise, choose "Pickup". When your order is up next in line, you will be contacted with a pickup date.
